Features of HDFC ForePlus Cards

  1. Backup Card Facility

The HDFC Forex Card kit includes a backup card (excluding the ISIC Student variant). If your original card is lost or stolen, you can activate the backup card by calling HDFC Bank customer care or online. Once activated, all funds from the primary card will be automatically transferred to the backup card.

  1. Emergency Cash Assistance

Customers who need emergency foreign currency notes while travelling can contact customer service and get an emergency cash delivery service. This service is available exclusively for Regalia and Hajj ForexPlus cards.

  1. Card Management through 24/7 Customer Care and Net Banking

You can apply for the Forex card via HDFC Bank’s internet banking. You can also manage your funds, check your balance, change your PIN, and block your card anytime through HDFC’s Net Banking.

  1. Available for Non-Account Holders Too

Even if you do not have a savings account with HDFC Bank, you can still apply for an HDFC Forex card. However, after the online application, you must visit the nearest branch to submit the KYC documents and collect the Forex card.

  1. Complimentary Travel Insurance of Rs. 10,30,000

HDFC Forex cardholders (except Regalia ForexPlus cards) gain access to the complimentary travel insurance policy worth Rs. 10,30,000. The exchange rates for all the Forex card types are charged based on the HDFC Bank Treasury Forex card rates which are updated daily. The additional charges applied to the cardholders and their ATM withdrawal limit per day are as follows:

Who Can Apply for an HDFC Forex Card?

All HDFC bank account holders and non-account holders are eligible to apply for an HDFC ForexPlus Card. However, the applicants must be:

  1. An Indian resident
  2. 12 years or older
  3. A holder of a valid passport / OCI card

Documents Required for Forex Card Application

  1. Self-attested copy of valid passport 
  2. Self-attested copy of PAN card
  3. Self-attested copy of international travel ticket or visa (for non-account holders)
  4. Copy of Passbook or one-year account statement used for loading the Forex card (for non-account holders)
  5. Self-attested copy of guardian’s PAN card (ISIC Forex Plus Card applicants, if funded by the guardian)
  6. Self-attested copy of admission letter (ISIC Forex Plus Card applicants)
  7. Self-attested copy of form I-20 (ISIC Forex Plus Card applicants)
Pro Tip: Bring original KYC documents and self-attested copies when picking up the card at the bank or have them ready for home delivery. The card will be activated only after the KYC documents are verified.

How to Apply for HDFC ForexPlus Card Online?

  1. Visit the HDFC ForexPlus website and click the ‘Apply Now’ button for the most suitable Forex card for you.
  1. Enter your Customer ID or mobile number for verification. 
  1. Further, fill out the form with the necessary details and the preferred amount of foreign currency.
  1. Choose from the provided card collection method and accept the terms and conditions.
  1. Enter the bank details of the account from which you are funding.

  1. The Forex card shall be issued after 3 days. Submit all necessary documents before collecting the Forex card at your branch or from the approved bank service provider.

1. How to activate contactless payment on HDFC Forex card?

To enable Contactless service on the card, follow the below mentioned steps:

  1. Enable the service & set daily transaction count / daily limit
  2. Login in to Prepaid Card Netbanking
  3. Go to “Account Summary” tab and Select “Manage My Profile” option
  4. Click on “Manage My Limits” tab and then select your “Card”
2. What is the HDFC Forex card limit?

The maximum limit of the amount that can be loaded on HDFC Forex Cards is as per the Liberated Remittance Scheme which is USD 250,000 in a financial year.
